When it comes to 3D modeling, I wouldn’t call myself an expert by any means. In fact, I only picked up Blender a couple of years ago and still haven’t explored all of its features, nor grasped many aspects of modeling in general.
I figure things out by doing, though. I have learned so much just by trying something new and challenging myself with each new project. There’s always hurdles along the way but usually a Google search provides the answers, and I learn something new.
One thing that I have been trying to do is get some of my assets in the Unity Asset Store. Unfortunately after submitting and waiting 3 weeks for review, they rejected my first upload because of something I wasn’t aware of. The exact response from Unity was:
Models marked as “Static” have colliders assigned to them. Colliders fit the model’s size.
I haven’t looked into fixing this and resubmitting yet, for one I don’t know the answer. If you are reading this and have some knowledge please leave me a comment below.
It’s all part of the learning process though. Once I figure out how to fix it, I’ll know how to take care of it the next time I’m submitting an asset. And that next one will come with it’s own set of issues that I learn from. It’s a snowball effect when you learn from your mistakes.
I guess the point to all of this is that if you ever feel discouraged that something isn’t working out, and maybe you feel like giving up, just know that nothing comes without it’s work. To learn something you have to put in the time and effort to figure things out and overcome problems.
In the end it’s all worth it when you look back and see the progress you have made.
Thanks for stopping by.
