*** PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING ***
This is a mid-poly model of the F-35C, which is the Navy’s version of the Joint Strike Fighter. Please note that this is not the USMC version (F-35B), and so it does not have the V/STOL capability. Instead, it has upgraded landing gear, longer wings, and a tailhook to enable carrier landings.
This model is fairly detailed, but as much as some of my other work. The goal was to create something that could be easily rigged and animated. At approximately 45K polys, this model should be usable for many PC-based games and simulators.
A couple of important notes:
1.) Rigging
This model is NOT rigged in its current form. However, it has been constructed with rigging in mind. Everything will move and fit correctly. The landing gear, for example, will fit inside the bay when retracted, and will not protrude through other parts of the aircraft. The weapons bay doors will not hit each other, and will leave sufficient clearance to release ordnance (missiles, bombs, etc). Some clearances are tight, just as they are on the real aircraft, but everything does work. The landing gear, weapons bays, refueling probe, tailhook, and control surfaces are all designed to be rigged. In addition, the wings are meant to fold up for storage aboard an aircraft carrier.
2.) Textures
The only texture included is a 2K (2048×2048) decal sheet. Appropriate areas of the model are UV unwrapped to align with the decals. The rest of the model, however, is NOT unwrapped. Other visible textures (such as minor paint discoloration) were done with procedural (cloud) style texturing. This is included in the original (Blender) version of the model, but may require adjustment in the exported formats.
Enjoy!
